About Anti-Mythicism
The mission of Anti-Mythicism: to test claims that Jesus never existed against primary texts, historical method and relevant scholarship.
Anti-Mythicism exists to answer one narrow historical claim: that Jesus of Nazareth was not a historical person at all.
The site does not attempt to prove Christianity, defend biblical inerrancy or turn every later Christian tradition into evidence. It takes arguments for mythicism seriously enough to quote them, trace their sources and test them against the methods used in ancient history, New Testament studies, classics, archaeology and textual criticism.
The case is cumulative. It asks which explanation best accounts for Paul, Jesus’s reported family, the Gospel traditions, outside witnesses and the earliest movement. A maximalist reconstruction must explain those sources rather than treating each uncertainty as permission to discard them.
Standards
Every direct response links to the claim being answered. References favour primary texts, journal records, publishers and institutions. The complete editorial rules are available on the Method and Standards page.
